About this Event:
Sex workers remain one of the most victimized, criminalized, and dehumanized marginalized populations in mainstream society. We’re routinely underestimated, our skill sets underutilized, and our value reduced to ornamental and temporary. Without our work being universally recognized as legitimate labor, we suffer from a lack of benefits and protections that could combat how vulnerable so many of us are. Despite all of this, we persevere as members of the world’s oldest healing profession. This is a discussion-based workshop restricted to folks that have been - or are currently active in - the sex industry and to folks who want to learn how to better advocates and how to better support sex workers.

During this workshop, we will:

• Address and dissect the concept of the “whorearchy”, as well as how sex workers can fall victim to and become complicit in it,

• Acknowledge and define common “microaggressions” and “macroaggressions” used against the sex industry while investigating how to combat them in both subtle and overt ways,

• Deconstruct the idea of “internalized whorephobia” while presenting methods in which to avoid internalization and promote empowerment and agency, and

• Foster community cohesiveness while combating stereotyping and differentiating between actual and perceived privilege, & More!
